Why Am I Teaching About Web Design?

Many lifetimes ago, I was actually a computer programmer. I got my Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and launched into a life of computers! Right after university, I fell in love with a dairy farmer, got married, moved to the country, and continued to program until my first child was born. After that, I wrote computer programs for our farm and for others! Just imagine! 

My jobs were almost always acting as the go-between between the users and the programs (We must remember that we are talking about 30 years ago when Windows was just coming out and we had to learn how to use a mouse! 😊) I've always loved bridging the gap between non-techie folks and the sometimes daunting technological world!

Technology is So Much Friendlier Now

Back in those days, you absolutely had to have a serious tech background to work with computers. But this is not the case today! Companies are competing with each other to see who can be the most USER-FRIENDLY. They want you to tell your friends things like, "You wouldn't believe it. I can barely use a smart phone, but I can create my own website with this program!"

Their competition to make things easy definitely works in our favour!

No Need For Big Costs

For years, I've seen people hire others to create websites for them. Sometimes it works out great. But more often than not, they didn't like the new website, it took forever, it cost thousands of dollars, and in the end, they had to contact the programmer in order to make even the smallest changes!

This has driven me crazy for a long time - especially when I know that there is no reason to feel the huge tech gap any longer. I know that anyone can create their own website, it doesn't have to cost much, and you can edit it and modify it any time you'd like.

Plus, it's a fun way to be creative! It's so easy to choose your colours, beautiful photos, and make it really feel like YOU!

And I'd like to help you do that! 😊

1) Create A Website in a Weekend

This course is designed for anyone who would like to create a very simple website. If you have ever felt intimidated by the idea of this, then this course is for you.

I will take you step-by-step through the creation of the pages of a simple website. Through this, you will gain the confidence to modify and edit your website any time you'd like!

If you've written a book, do counselling sessions with people, or would like to offer online courses, I'll show you how to create the pages to showcase and sell what you have to offer!

What You Will Receive:

• You will be able to create a wonderful website that looks great on computers, phones, and tablets.
• All classes are pre-recorded so that you can follow them step-by-step as you create your site.
• You will be able to link your special website name (like katrinabos.ca) to your site.
• The course has 3 parts:
  • Part One walks you through the creation of simple web pages
  • Part Two shows you how to build an email list and send out newsletters and announcements
  • Part Three gives you fun options to play with if you would like to get more adventurous in designing your website
• Your website is created in Kajabi (which is where this website that you are reading is hosted and created)

3) Creating Your Online Course

This is for anyone who has an idea for an online course but doesn't know how to get started!

This is a LIVE course where we will gather over Zoom to help each other brainstorm and flesh out our ideas! It's going to be super fun and interesting!

You will start with an idea and by the end of the course, you will have it all written out ready for recording and sharing with the world!

This is perfect for you if you would like to create ANY course - either online or in person. You also don't have to be using Kajabi. You could use what you create on any online platform!

How will this work?

• Live Classes
  • We will gather for eight 1.5 hour classes (Tuesdays at 7pm EST)
  • The first two classes will be December 10th & 17th. All you need for the first class is the idea for your course. These are our foundation classes
  • You will have three weeks to work on your assignments from the first two classes. Then, we will begin gathering weekly for six more classes to work with what you've created!
• This is a hands-on course for anyone who wants a completed course by the time we're finished. 😊
• In our later classes, we will cover creating videos, homework & quizzes for your students, pricing, and how to create a great landing page to share your course.
