There is Deep Peace Already Inside of You
No need for complicated practices to feel bliss
Many of us long for inner peace. We want to experience pure joy and the bliss that, somehow, we know is possible.
What if it is inside of you right now?
There is a Sanskrit word, prasāda, that means to settle down completely.
Pra = forth, fully, intensely.
Sad = to settle down, sit, sink in repose.
Prasāda is when our mind is cleared of all desires, anger, attraction, or repulsion.
It is when we are feeling calm, quiet, and at ease.
This is true bliss.
It is the quiet centre of who we are. When we feel like this, we are existing in sacred space, the heart, our inner being.
And it’s always within us. No fancy rituals or practices are needed.
Let’s imagine a scenario where you have a big project that you’re working on in your home. You’re thinking about it, stressing about it, running into snags, and hoping that it will be finished soon.
At last, you are done.
You walk outside and take a deep breath, and all of the million thoughts that were focused on the task are gone.
This peace that you feel right there is prasāda - inner peace - grace - joy.
You didn’t have to do anything to create it. It was there underneath all of the noisy thoughts the whole time.
Let’s just take a breath together here.
Feel the quiet deep within. It’s right there within you, right now.
How can we feel it more often?
Go for a walk focusing on your breath, your surroundings, and the feel of the earth under your feet.
Take mini-breaks between tasks throughout the day (smoke breaks without the smoke)
Allow yourself to fully exhale and feel the quiet.
This magical peace is within us right now. All we have to do is close our eyes, breathe, and allow ourselves to blissfully sink into it.
